Flagrantly AWOL

On a long weekend vacation lying in our hotel room bed watching Cowboys vs. Aliens  in my underwear while we kill time before heading out for dinner and suddenly realized I haven't posted on Flagrant Nerd in something like forever.

And so with that...apologies.  I will endeavor to return to the rambling of an aging nerd.

Movie Star Horse That Played Shadowfax Dies

"Run Shadowfax, show us the meaning of haste." - Gandalf, The Return of the King

Blanco, the equine entertainer that was one of the horses that played the role of Shadowfax, the Lord of the Horses and Gandalf's mount in the Lord of the Rings trilogy as well as other movie roles has died.  The Spanish Andalusian bred in New Zealand was euthanized  following complications of intestinal and liver issues.

The horse's owner Cynthia Royal, who has had her own medical issues that left her without insurance for Blanco, has incurred significant veterinary bills over the course of Blanco's treatment totaling some $18,000.  A donation page has been set up to help offset the expense of Blanco's care.
